In honour of the brave men and women that serve and have served in the Canadian Armed Forces, and to honour the many who have given the ultimate sacrifice; we will be promoting books each day this week that shed light on what it is like to serve.
Today we honour those who fought and died in World War II. Canadians fought on land, in the seas, and in the skies in both the Pacific and European theatres of war. Almost 47,000 Canadians were killed, over 58,000 were wounded, over 8,900 were taken prisoner.
Today we have chosen a selection of books that we hope provide a look at the numerous ways Canadians took part in World War II.

The Brigade was only active for two and a half years, but their exploits earned them a fierce reputation. This book recounts their actions in the European theatre of war and how they earned the nickname, “The Devil’s Brigade”.
