Founded in 1852 and incorporated in 1866, Studebaker was the world’s largest supplier of horse-drawn vehicles, producing half of the wagons that crossed the U.S. at the height of western migration. Later, the company became a leading automobile manufacturer and was acquired by Packard in 1954.
