In 1948 Norton's new twin appeared as a 500cc and soon became known as the Dominator'. The new bike was well received. Although not particularly impressive, this changed with the introduction of the Featherbed frame in 1952. These Dominators all looked good, sounded good, ran well and steered with precision. Bigger engines were introduced and production continued even after the Company was taken over in 1966. The final Dominator, the 650cc Mercury, rolled down the line in 1970. This book contains 42 articles covering road and combination tests, specifications, model intros, performance data. Models: Domiracer, Featherbed Twins, 750 Metisse, 7, 77, 88, 99, 650SS, 750 Atlas, Scrambler, Dunstall.
The story of the Norton Rotaries is traced from its announcement in the early '80's. Included are road, comparison and prototype tests, racing and riding impressions and full performance data. All models are covered including the Classic, Commander, F1 and F1 Sport.
The lineage of both side-valve and overhead- valve Norton singles can be traced back to the earliest days of the company. The final forms of both engine types were a dopted for 1931 and continued, with minor changes, for some thirty years.

In November of 2001, Glen Heggstad decided to ride his motorcycle to the tip of South America. His journey was interrupted when he was kidnapped at gunpoint by Colombian rebels and held captive for five weeks. Yet even after his traumatic incarceration, Glen did what few others would finished his trip. Three years later, frustrated by the climate of fear in a media-saturated world and the resulting stranglehold of self-imposed security in the U.S., Glen decided to look for truth on his own terms on the back of his motorcycle. Once more the Striking Viking left the comforts of California as an unofficial emissary with his own message to the world: We are not afraid and we refuse to hate. Starting in Japan, Glen wound his way through Siberia, Mongolia, Europe, the Middle East, South East Asia, and Africa, stopping in over 30 countries. This was not a tourists bus tour Glen battled extreme temperatures, knee-deep mud, bureaucratic roadblocks, health problems, and loneliness, but these problems faded to insignificance with the thrill of the open road and the smiling receptions he received from locals and fellow bikers at every turn. With One More Day Everywhere, readers can share Glen Heggstads vision of a world ungoverned by fear and, like Glen, embrace each experience, with one eye always on the horizon.
Harley-Davidson stunned the world when it unveiled its EL 61, better known as the Knucklehead, on November 25, 1935. The overhead-valve technology was impressive at a time when sidevalve engines were the order of the day, and the engine formed the basis for all Harley Big Twins to follow, right through the Evolution engines of the 1980s and 90s. But what really grabbed enthusiasts' attention was the styling of the new Harleys. The Knucklehead formed the die from which all future cruisers would be cast. Fittingly, Knuckleheads are much sought after by collectors today. This book, like others in the Original series, aids anyone collecting or refurbishing these classic Harleys. It illustrates and describes the correct parts, finishes, and options and trim pieces for all Knuckleheads, from the 1936 debut through the 1947 bikes, the last year of production.

Riding motorcycles is fun but Ken Condon maintains there is a state of being beyond the simple pleasure of rolling down the road, this book was written to help other riders find that state of being. It's the experience of being physically and mentally present in the moment, where every sense is sharply attuned to the ride. Your mind becomes silent to the chatter of daily life and everyday problems seem to dissolve, you feel a deeper appreciation for life. Your body responds to this state of being with precise, fluid movements, you feel in balance, your muscles are relaxed, and it seems as though every input you make is an expression of mastery. This is "the Zone." Condon has identified all the factors that affect entering the Zone and addresses each one individually, from the development of awareness and mental skills to mastering physical control of the motorcycle. At the end of each chapter are drills designed to transform the book's ideas into solid riding skills. A companion DVD is included to demonstrate each concept and technique.
