A Passion Observed: A True Story of a Motorcycle Racer
Not many people decide their entire lives in a single moment but some do, and Frank Mrazek was one of them. He knew that he was put on earth to race motorcycles. He knew that he could ride them faster and smoother than anybody else in Brno, maybe in Czechoslovakia, maybe in the world. He knew it before he'd ever swung a leg over one. This is his story.
A Twist of the Wrist
This DVD puts you on the bike with eight different, exciting camera positions. With nearly 400 action shots, not only on the bike but also from trackside and high above the rider, you see correct and incorrect riding. Drawings, diagrams and computer animations and demonstrations bring your visualization of riding into a crystal clear understanding of cornering and braking. No one has taken more time and care in developing the cornering arts than California Superbike School Director Keith Code.
Bean’re: Motorcycle Nomad
Bean're is one of the last American Nomads. He makes his own rules and travels to and from on his own schedule. The to and from usually involves motorcycle events, like Sturgis and Daytona. His mode of travel is a very well worn Harley with over 200,000 miles on the odometer.
With his long pony-tail and tall top hat, Beanre looks like the original drug fiend. It turns out, however, that Beanre is straight and sober, and has been for over 23 years.
Beanre Motorcycle Nomad - is both a non-fiction story of a life-long adventure, and an inspirational tale. If anyone in this world is free, truly free, that someone is Beanre. Free from the 40 hour grind. Free from the credit card bills and mortgage payments that dog the rest of us. Free from dependence on drugs and alcohol.
Though it might seem that Beanre has nothing, it turns out he has a wealth of the things that are truly important. Things like friends in all 50 states and all over the world. Those friends include the well known and obscure, and both have contributed to this book with testimonials and simple stories about Beanre. With his status as a cult celebrity in the motorcycle world, Beanre is often the subject of photos taken at various events. And its these photos that fill the center of this book.
In addition to travel tales and testimonials, this new book includes tips on everything from breaking free of the daily grind, to learning how to live without chemicals. Theres a chapter on Beanres motorcycle travel tips: How to pack light, pass up the motels, keep an old bike on the road, and deal with the inevitable hassle of storms and breakdowns.
For those who already count Beanre as a friend, this new book will bring a smile to their face. Those who dont know Beanre will feel like they do after reading the narrative account of one man who gave it all up and gained a great deal along the way.
BMW Racing Motorcycles: The Mastery of Speed
Here is the intriguing story of one of the world's most admired and enduring motorcycle companies, and how their fortunes were molded by a determination to win races. Early in the last century, the fledgling company decided to test its products, demonstrate the quality of its designs, and showcase German technology by winning competitions. That determination has lasted to this day, as BMW has remained a formidable competitor in various venues of motorcycle racing. The book covers the company's early mutation from aircraft engine builder to producer of reliable, high-quality motorcycles. Its development of supercharged engines, advanced suspension systems, and many other innovations led to its dominance of various race competitions at different times, with many of those technologies making their way into production motorcycles. BMWs have long been known for reliability and endurance; it is precisely those characteristics which gave the company the deciding advantage in sidecar racing, endurance competitions, and Superbike racing.
BMW: The Racing Story
The BMW racing story is a fascinating tale of persistence and reward. Though initially unsuccessful in competition, the flat-twin-powered BMW motorcycle was steadily developed until it became a machine to be reckoned with. In 1939 the ultimate was achieved when Georg Meir won the Senior TT. After the War, BMW maintained a high profile on the Grand Prix scene winning no fewer than nineteen world titles from the mid-1950s to the mid-1970s in sidecar racing. But BMW: The Racing Story covers much more, including the American scene, the K-series four-cylinder, the four valve twins of the early 1990s and, finally, the great successes gained by the F650-based single in the European and British Supermono series.
Cafe Racers of the 1970s: Machines, Riders and Lifestyle: A Pictorial Review
The 1970s was the era of the cafe racer in its second phase, that of the specialist manufacturers. Certain mainstream marques such as Ducati, Moto Guzzi, Laverda and Yamaha also catered for this emerging market by producing production factory cafe racers such as the 900SS (Ducati), Le Mans (Guzzi), Mongich (Laverda) and RD Series (Yamaha). Famed motorcycle author Mick Walker graphically recreates the era of the cafe racers. Numerous contemporary photos are featured, with captions explaining the history and technical features of the machines and describing the men who made and rode them.

Crash Kings Motocross
Every Motocross rider falls off. It's just a question of how often which separates the men from the boys! Even world champions are not exempt as we experience 300 crashes, smashes and wipeouts from the spectacular to the slightly sad. It's not surprising there's a lot of coming together when 50 bikes head off for the same 10 metres of track at the first corner!
Watch the mayhem on the beach as the riders wilt under the energy-sapping conditions, but at least there's a soft landing, unlike those bumpy, stony motocross circuits where we see bruising, bone-crunching and sometimes very funny action.
There's some heart-stopping moments, too as riders bale out in mid-air hoping for a landing which doesn't damage the bike. Nobody gets seriously hurt. Still, better not let your Mum see this one!

Door to Door: The Magnificent, Maddening, Mysterious World of Transportation
Transportation dominates our daily existence. Thousands, even millions, of miles are embedded in everything we do and touch. We live in a door-to-door universe that works so well most Americans are scarcely aware of it. The grand ballet in which we move ourselves and our stuff is equivalent to building the Great Pyramid, the Hoover Dam, and the Empire State Building all in a day. Every day. And yet, in the one highly visible part of the transportation world, the part we drive, we suffer grinding commutes, a violent death every fifteen minutes, a dire injury every twelve seconds, and crumbling infrastructure.
Now, the way we move ourselves and our stuff is on the brink of great change, as a new mobility revolution upends the car culture that, for better and worse, built modern America. This unfolding revolution will disrupt lives and global trade, transforming our commutes, our vehicles, our cities, our jobs, and every aspect of culture, commerce, and the environment. We are, quite literally, at a fork in the road, though whether it will lead us to Carmageddon or Carmaheaven has yet to be determined.
Using interviews, data and deep exploration of the hidden world of ports, traffic control centers, and the research labs defining our transportation future, acclaimed journalist Edward Humes breaks down the complex movements of humans, goods, and machines as never before, from increasingly car-less citizens to the distance UPS goes to deliver a leopard-printed phone case. Tracking one day in the life of his family in Southern California, Humes uses their commutes, traffic jams, grocery stops, and online shopping excursions as a springboard to explore the paradoxes and challenges inherent in our system. He ultimately makes clear that transportation is one of the few big things we can change; our personal choices do have a profound impact, and that fork in the road is coming up fast.
Door to Door is a fascinating detective story, investigating the worldwide cast of supporting characters and technologies that have enabled us to move from here to there, past, present, and future.
Down and Out in Patagonia, Kamchatka, and Timbuktu
The first-ever, first-hand chronicle of Dr. Gregory W. Frazier's never-ending motorcycle ride. A little over 40 years ago, a man named Gregory W. Frazier got on his motorcycle, went for a ride, and never returned. He's still out there, circumnavigating the globe: exploring the jungles of Asia in the winter, trout fishing in Alaska in the summer, and covering all points in between during the rest of the year. He's been shot at by rebels, jailed by unfriendly authorities, bitten by snakes, run over by Pamplona bulls, and smitten by a product of Adam's rib. He's circled the globe five times and has covered well over one million miles (and counting). During those past four decades, Dr. Frazier has been chronicling and photographing his around-the-world adventures, publishing 13 books on the subject (including one previous title with Motorbooks), the majority of which have been manuals for touring specific locations or general how-to-tour-by-motorcycle books. He has also produced 9 documentary DVDs, but until now, nothing in print has encompassed the entirety of his worldwide motorcycle adventures. Now, for the first time, he has written his on-the-road autobiography that captures the whole of his extraordinary travels in words and images. Down and Out in Patagonia, Kamchatka, and Timbuktu tells the amazing ongoing story of Dr. Frazier, one of the world's single most well-traveled motorcyclists.
Endless Horizon: A Very Messy Motorcycle Journey Around the World
In 2005, motorcycle journalist Dan Walsh rode out of London on a Yamaha XT Desert Rat, headed for Africa. From Dakar to Ghana to South Africa, then on to North and South America, he kept his readers posted about his travels, along the way earning the label “the savior of motorcycle writing.” Whether he’s delivering judgments ("Chile will always be South America’s supermodel sister--very beautiful but too long, too skinny, and too expensive to ride, and despite the groovy exterior, unpleasantly right-wing underneath.") or just describing another day on the road ("I get my bum pinched by a tranny, my pocket picked by a grifter and get a gun pulled on me by a one-eyed, one-armed midget who’s upset cause I winked at him.”), these reports from the gonzo frontier of motorcycle travel are never less than Technicolor, adrenaline-soaked, and coruscatingly funny.
Lyrical, edgy, fraught with danger, despair and surreal highs and lows--this is a travelogue like no other. Walsh’s postings take readers to Buenos Aires (where “revolutionary” means the angry poor invading the presidential palace, not a really small phone that’s also a camera) and across the sub-Saharan savannah (like riding across a piece of toast with a mouthful of crackers); they feature Walsh being mistaken for a bum in New York, bashed by deadly tequila in Mexico, contracting typhoid in a dilapidated Bolivian hotel, biking “The Most Beautiful Road in the World” in Peru, being kidnapped in Kenya and finding downtown Soweto about as threatening as Stockport. And again and again they reveal Dan Walsh as the rightful heir to Ted Simon as the pre-eminent biker-rebel of our generation.
Far And Away: A Prize Every Time
Following in the tradition of Ghost Rider and Traveling Music, Rush drummer Neil Peart relates nearly four years of band tours, road trips, and personal discoveries in this introspective travelogue. From the ups and downs of a professional artist to the birth of a child, this revealing narrative recounts 22 adventures from rock's foremost drummer, biker enthusiast, husband, and father. Both playful and insightful, Peart's love of drumming and the open road weaves throughout the stories as he explores horizons that are both physical and spiritual, sharing his observations about nature, society, and the self. Full-color photos round out this tour of the open road that will resonate with Rush fans and motorcycle enthusiasts alike.
Faster: Inside the Exhilarating World of Motorcycle Racing
The world of Motorcycle Grand Prix racing attracts thrill-seeking competitors who feel the need for speed, competition, and the glorious feeling of victory. This Slamdance Film Festival-favorite takes a look at the sport, and was written and directed by acclaimed documentarian Mark Neale (WILLIAM GIBSON: NO MAPS FOR THESE TERRITORIES). Actor Ewan McGregor (TRAINSPOTTING, STAR WARS) is a huge fan of the sport, providing an enthusiastic voice-over commentary for Neale's film. The action unfurls over five continents and two seasons of the World Championship, and is neatly balanced between spectacular on-track performances, and contemplative off-track interviews. Neale really gets his teeth into the subject, speaking to riders, fans, mechanics, and even doctors, who are often called upon to deal with some hair-raising crashes. A welcome addition to the ever growing cannon of documentary films, FASTER is a movie which should appeal to both fans of the sport, and curiosity seekers looking to delve into a new topic.

Award-winning motorcycle film producer, David Wood, utilises his extensive archive, plus material from scores of other sources, modern day interviews and race coverage, to present an unsurpassed, entertaining and historically significant record of motorcycle racing. In Birth of the Grand Prix, we trace the 40-year history of World Championship motorcycle racing. The works teams of Norton, Gilera, Moto Guzzi, MV Augusta, BMW, AJS and others are featured during the glorious 1950s when up to twenty multi-cylindered four-stroke machines would be on the grid at a GP. Then two-strokes arrived on the scene and soon had to be taken seriously as the sights and sounds at the Grand Prix circuits of the world changed. The Japanese Arrival includes footage of early Japanese appearances in Europe and features for example, the 20,000rpm 50cc racers that screamed around the TT course in the early 1960s, the fabulous 250cc Honda Six ridden by Mike Hailwood, the 125 and 250 V4 Yamahas ridden by Ivy and Read and many more racing marvels. The post-war growth of the Japanese motorcycle industry and their eventual domination of the road racing scene is outlined.
History of Motorcycle Racing (Volume 3)
This is the third volume of the definitive history of one of the world's most exciting sports. Award-winning motorcycle film producer, David Wood, utilises his extensive archive, plus material from scores of other sources, modern day interviews and race coverage, to present an unsurpassed, entertaining and historically significant record of motorcycle racing. In The Other Champions, we cover racing classes other than the Blue Riband 500cc championship, i.e. the lightweights from 50cc to 350cc, and of course, those modern day charioteers, the sidecar racers. All of these classes have had many worthy champions over the years - several of whom are featured in this episode. Pressure, Money & The Need to Win, our final part, profiles the advent of the ultra-professional approach to motorcycle racing which has produced a new breed of rider who have to be as committed to the commercial aspects of the sport as they are to winning races. The trend is made clear as we hear from one of the first riders who presented himself as a TV personality - Barry Sheene. Then, as action footage unfolds, we speak to several 1980s stars whose highly professional approach epitomised the sport; Kenny Roberts, Freddie Spencer, Wayne Gardner and Kevin Schwantz to name but a few.
