Alfa Romeo: Tipo A Monoposto Single Seater
The first single-seater manufactured in 1931 by Alfa Romeo turned 85 years old in 2016. It was named "Type A" as it started the series of the single-seater models successfully established in the racing world in Europe. The Type A was a makeshift model, manufactured to challenge the competition cars of the period, Italian and French, on high speed tracks. It contained ingenious features thanks to the talent of Comm. Vittorio Jano, the designer who made the name of Alfa Romeo well known the whole world over. The experience acquired on this model provided however the ideas for the successive model, the Type B, which for three years won all the Grand Prixs held in Europe.
Alfa Romeo: Tipo A Monoposto Single Seater remembers its technical and competition history.
This book also depicts the rebuilding of the "Type A" shown now in the Museum of the Milanese Firm in Arese.
