Ginetta Cars Limited Edition Ultra 1958-2007
Ginetta Cars was founded in 1958 by the four Walklett brothers, the business being an extension of their passion for motor racing and, as a result, cars produced by the Company were predominately race or road/race. The G2 and G3 models had been aimed at the enthusiast who wished to build his own car, but the G4 model which was unveiled in 1961 was aimed at the club racer who wanted a cost effective weekday road car and a weekend racer. As well as road going sports cars, the Company produced single seaters like the G8 and G9, but manufacturing difficulties led to the projects being shelved. In the 80s, Ginetta returned to the kit car market with an updated G4 - the G27 - for which enthusiasm has never waned. Today the Company is owned by a consortium, but the aims remain much as they ever were; to produce innovative, capable and affordable sports cars.
Ginetta: Road and Track Cars
Driven initially by Ivor Walklett's flair for design and desire to build his own car, the Ginetta marque quickly developed from a hobby into a business. The marque synonymous with the four Walklett brothers then grew from its humble roots to become a serious force in motor racing and a volume road car maker.
Ginetta: Road and Track Cars traces the story of a marque born out of sheer enthusiasm for cars and racing. With over forty different models designed and built between 1958 and 2005 by Ginetta, this book examines every element of the design innovation, shrewd business management and model line-up that made Ginetta unique among its competitors, and includes the full development history and technical specifications of each major model.
