WE REMEMBER: Honouring Our Canadian Armed Forces (Volume 1)

posted in: Books, Military | 0

In honour of the brave men and women that serve and have served in the Canadian Armed Forces, and to honour the many who have given the ultimate sacrifice; we will be promoting books each day this week that shed light on what it is like to serve.

Today we shed light on those who fought and died over 200 years ago for a land that would one day become Canada.

A Scarlet Coat: Uniforms, Flags and Equipment of the British in the War of 1812

A Scarlet Coat uses colour illustrations, a plethora of B&W engravings, photographs and detailed descriptions to provide a intimate depiction of the uniforms, insignia, and equipment of British soldiers during 1812.

Lords of the Lake: The Naval War on Lake Ontario, 1812-1814

Lords of the Lake tells the story of one of the most significant struggles that took place along the border between the British provinces in Canada and the United States during the War of 1812, the battle for control of Lake Ontario. The lake was a key element both for the invaders and the defending British and both nations threw men and material into feverish efforts to build vessels with which to gain mastery of the waterway.

We hope you are able to take time this week and reflect on the men and women that have served, and continue to serve our great nation.
